So therefore I dedicate myself to myself, to my art, my sleep, my dreams, my labors, my suffrances, my loneliness, my unique madness, my endless absorption and hunger- because I cannot dedicate myself to any fellow being.

Jessica Chastain

Title: Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston Dating? 'It's Serious,' Says Source

Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston are now dating, says one source, despite the actress' previous statement swearing off fellow actors for romance.

Chastain recently confessed that she had several rules when it came to dating. Rule number one? No actors, the "Zero Dark Thirty" actress revealed. Chastain said that she valued her privacy and felt that she would get none if she dated someone who was famous.

"I have a rule," she told Britain's InStyle. "No actors. I have dated an actor before, at Juilliard (acting school), but since then, I've only been on a couple of dates with one and I was so freaked out someone was going to take a picture of us, because they were famous."

Reddit thread inspires Warner Bros time travel movie
In the past decade Hollywood has given us movies that began life as theme-park rides, board games, magazine articles, and even self-help books. Now get ready for the next wave of tech-flavoured source materials for future blockbusters after studio Warner Bros optioned a high-concept time travel story based on a long-running Reddit thread.

The idea originated when James Irwin, an author and two-time champion on the US TV quiz show Jeopardy from Des Moines, Iowa, attempted to answer the question: "Could I destroy the entire Roman Empire during the reign of Augustus if I traveled back in time with a modern US Marine infantry battalion" on the popular social news and entertainment website. Irwin, who was writing a book titled The Encyclopedia of US Military Actions (Through Facts on File), posted a 350-word short story in the thread chronicling the exploits of the fictitious 35th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which suddenly disappears from modern-day Kabul and reappears on the Tiber River in 23 BC.

EPA changed course after oil company protested
When a man in a Fort Worth suburb reported his family’s drinking water had begun “bubbling” like champagne, the federal government sounded an alarm: An oil company may have tainted their wells while drilling for natural gas.

At first, the Environmental Protection Agency believed the situation was so serious that it issued a rare emergency order in late 2010 that said at least two homeowners were in immediate danger from a well saturated with flammable methane. More than a year later, the agency rescinded its mandate and refused to explain why.

Now a confidential report obtained by The Associated Press and interviews with company representatives show that the EPA had scientific evidence against the driller, Range Resources, but changed course after the company threatened not to cooperate with a national study into a common form of drilling called hydraulic fracturing. Regulators set aside an analysis that concluded the drilling could have been to blame for the contamination.

Dale Jr. has own brand of chips
NASCAR's most popular driver has formed Dale Jr. Foods through a partnership with Minnesota-based snack company KLN Family Brands, which produces Barrel O' Fun snacks.

The company will produce four Dale Jr. flavored chips -- Carolina barbecue, crispy original, Creole and green onion, and zesty jalapeno.

"I like the jalapenos the best," Earnhardt said during Friday's test at Daytona International Speedway. "I thought I'd like the barbecue best."

The business venture is the latest for a driver who already owns a Nationwide Series team and a chain of bars called Whisky River.

"We've been working on this deal for a while," Earnhardt said of the chips. "I didn't expect it to get that much attention. Everybody I know ... is wanting bags of chips now. I'll bring some in here as soon as we get a truckload."

Alison Brie, Amber Heard, And Sandra Bullock As Avengers? Yes Please.

We finally found the artist behind the fantastic photoshop of Alison Brie as Captain America and the photoshop of a ridiculously badass Nolan-style Batwoman. The artist is the guy behind Fan Art Exhibit, and we have a most excellent update. It’s part of a series called If Women Ruled The Earth. Josh, a graphic designer from Australia, has photoshopped three gender-swapped Avengers so far. Unfortunately, his iMac is out for repairs, so we’ll have to wait a bit for the rest. In the meantime, please enjoy the three gender-swapped Avengers he’s designed so far.

First, there’s Amber Heard as Thor. Then he chose Sandra Bullock to play Iron Woman. Then, just for the heck of it, let’s revisit the one of Alison Brie as Captain America because it’s still as awesome as ever.

‘Walking Dead’ Producer Making Pirate TV Series ‘Port Royal’
Long-time film and television producer Gale Ann Hurd (The Terminator) is working to bring pirates to the small screen in a new hour-long drama series, Port Royal.

The idea for Port Royal originally came from Hurd, who is currently in the midst of prepping the second season of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Hurd plans to bring Port Royal to television through a production deal between her Valhalla Entertainment and Graham King’s GK-tv.

For producer Graham King (The Departed, Hugo Cabret), Port Royal would be the second series by his GK-tv – the first being the sword-and-sorcery series Camelot, which premiered Friday night on Starz.

Dexter Season 8 (and Final Season?) Premieres Summer 2013
USAtoday.com reports: Showtime is splitting up its two most popular series.

Dexter and Homeland, which aired back to back in fall the past two years, will separate, so the network can use them as launching pads to introduce two new dramas.

Homeland, the Emmy-winning best drama, will remain in the fall, returning for a third season in September. But Dexter, the serial-killer series starring Michael C. Hall, will air its eighth and final season this summer. It will be followed by Ray Donovan, a new drama starring Liev Schreiber as a Los Angeles "fixer" to the rich and powerful. Jon Voight and Elliott Gould also star.

America's Real Criminal Element: Lead
WHEN RUDY GIULIANI RAN FOR MAYOR of New York City in 1993, he campaigned on a platform of bringing down crime and making the city safe again. It was a comfortable position for a former federal prosecutor with a tough-guy image, but it was more than mere posturing. Since 1960, rape rates had nearly quadrupled, murder had quintupled, and robbery had grown fourteenfold. New Yorkers felt like they lived in a city under siege.

Throughout the campaign, Giuliani embraced a theory of crime fighting called "broken windows," popularized a decade earlier by James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling in an influential article in The Atlantic. "If a window in a building is broken and is left unrepaired," they observed, "all the rest of the windows will soon be broken." So too, tolerance of small crimes would create a vicious cycle ending with entire neighborhoods turning into war zones. But if you cracked down on small crimes, bigger crimes would drop as well.

A Massachusetts Town Has Made Bottled Water Illegal
Water, water everywhere -- just not in plastic bottles, says a town in the US state of Massachusetts.

A law passed by the town of Concord went into effect with the New Year, making single-serving bottles of water illegal.

The ban is intended to encourage use of tap water and curb the worldwide problem of plastic pollution.

It only applies to "non-sparkling, unflavored drinking water." Coke or other soft drinks are exempt.

Jean Hill, an 84-year-old activist, thought up the ban, arguing that bottles fill garbage dumps, while consumers are lured into drinking water they could obtain for a tiny fraction of the cost at their own sink.

Intel Announces 6-Watt Server Processor

Intel this morning introduced its Centerton server processor, formally known as the Atom S1200, which is the company's lowest-power server chip and the first low-power server chip to offer 64-bit support.

This is a big step forward for the concept of microservers. They are well suited for cloud computing environments where many small servers may make more sense than a smaller number of larger processors with more CPU power each. That's because, in some applications, input-out features and the sheer number of cores are more important than pure CPU processors.

Companies have been talking about microservers and the processors that would be required for such servers for a few years now but the S1200 is the first such processor I've seen released that has 64-bit support. The company touts the fact that it runs x86 software, as all of Intel's chips do, which could be a key differentiator against ARM-based processors in this market.
